The company, Volga Shipyard, was founded in 1970 – initially as a state-owned research, development and prototype production facility. Production of Volga Shipyard was based on technical concepts and technologies devised and elaborated by renowned naval engineer and shipbuilder Rostislav Alexeyev in his design bureau. Following these innovative trends, the company bravely sailed into new currents in shipbuilding. In 90’s Volga Shipyard was transformed into a public joint stock company. The company was one of the pioneers of mass production of high-speed hydrofoil boats, hovercrafts and air cavity vehicles. Volga Shipyards makes a wide range of runabouts, leisure, high-speed and high-performance boats, emergency and rescue vessels, as well as other sea crafts of various models and types – Katran, Delfin, Lastochka, Serna and of other series. The company has designed and developed unique technologies for the construction of vessels, hulls and other ship-parts made of aluminum-magnesium alloys (known as BAM). The company produces also many types of patrol boats for navy and coast-guard. Along with mass production, the company continued research and design works, as well as manufacturing of experimental models of new types of river and sea vessels. The company also provides services for ship-owners – repair works on hulls, superstructures, power and propelling systems of ships. Rich experience, developed scientific and technologic base, protected patents for inventions and products strongly support the company’s ability to make unique products as well as its market position and significant export potential. The company's products are certified according to state standards and other technical and safety requirements. Volga Shipyard has government’s licenses for the production of defense equipment. |
